Make Up Session

I love the make up session we had during the The Body Shop "Give Joy" event last Friday night. It was a Blogger's Night and we were given a chance to have a make over for ourselves by which I will make a separate and detailed post later. I love this event. Not many people know how I love make up. When I attended a seminar about make up, I totally enjoyed and learned many tips about it plus I love the photo op I had with the international make-up artist from New York.

Remember the eyelash mascara that my co-PMC mom gave me on my birthday? I am so thankful because she knew exactly what I really wish for. Now I want fuller eyelashes. Before I explore more, I need to check first eyelash growth products reviews to know which exactly really works. I feel confident when I see myself in a totally different view. Not at all times though. I need it in special occasion or big event that I attend to.

ETON International School QC

I was privileged to have been invited in the official launching of ETON International School QC campus yesterday, November 26, 2011. The event started by a mass and blessing followed by ribbon cutting ceremony done by Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista. ABS-CBN News Anchor and Broadcast Journalist Korina Sanchez graced the event that night and gave a short inspirational message to everyone.

What used to be JUSMAG (Joint United States Military Advisory Group) headquarters, a venue to reorganize Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and train its officers and personnel under the RP-US Military Bases Agreement is now a campus of international students for primary education.

Eton International School-Quezon City (QC), the second Eton School is now standing at the huge 32,000-square-meter community site, a much bigger campus than ETON Malate with 17,000 sqm. Starting December 3, the school offers classes to preschool, grade school and middle school.

Branded as the "school of the future," Eton provides a school where learning is more continuous, more relevant and more adaptive. Classrooms are outfitted with the latest in interactive technology but school climate is homey-with diverse community members building congenial relationships on a green and spacious school grounds.

The school is complete with 20 learning style facilities and 10 Multiple Intelligences (MI) outdoor adventure zone. Eton uses an international curriculum called Universal Design in Learning that allows children to have equal access and opportunities to learn and thrive in the 21st century.

Eton International School President Dr. Jacqueline Marzan-Tolentino shares "it is not an accident that we found our new home in Heroes Hills Subdivision with streets named after World War II heroes and a community of distinguished residents, including Sen Jovito Salonga, QC Rep Bingbong Crisologo, the late TV host Joe Quirino, journalist Armando Malay, Partylist Rep Satur Ocampo and his wife Bobbie Malay, economist Winnie Monsod, contractor F.F. Cruz and painter Jose Joya."

"Given the rich history of this place, I am confident that this will be the school of future leaders and heroes," Tolentino added.

Eton recognizes contemporary heroes, who are considered shakers and movers of Quezon City. Former Vice President Noli De Castro who was not around that night was one of the ETON Awardees. Mayor Herbert "Bistek" Bautista and Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte are recognized for their achievements in public service and local governance-luminaries who exemplify the highest virtues of service and serve as great inspiration to the youth.

Realizing the importance of community building, Eton gives special citation to 15 community leaders who have made significant contribution to Quezon City. In light of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and community building. Eton also awards 10 boats to its adopted organization. Philippine Funds for Little Kids, through Jay Jaboneta, the group advocate, fire starter and chief storyteller.

Nostalgia #80: The Music of 80s

I've been hearing a lot of 80's music lately. The "Mad World" by Tears for Fears and the likes is now being played on radio and many kids can sing them well. It just means that classic songs never die.

I love 80's music but what's so surprising here is that, even the songs that are not revived from the 80s era are uploaded in my daughter's iPod shuffle. Certainly, she loves the music of 80s but it is not only my daughter who loves it, I guess most of the teens are now into this music as well.

Just a perfect timing for my entry for Nostalgia #80. I am sharing here another video. Every Friday, my radio is tuned in into Friday madness. How about you? Do you love 80s?

I am linking this to Nostalgia. Please visit other entries for more nostalgic moment. The host of this weekly meme is Beautiful Rose of Nostalgic Marveling.

Moms Meet Moms at PMC

It was very hot the whole week, ironically on the day of the event, the rain started to pour but it didn't stop the mommies to attend the event. About 50 mommies came at the 2nd EB held at Aling Tonya's Seafood Restaurant, Seaside.

During the first part of the program, the founder of Pinay Mommies Community, Ruby Ricafrente made a short talk and shared us about the history of PMC. Mommies from different parts of the world, Canada, US and Germany attended the event. Other mommies traveled a hundred miles away just to meet other mommies whom we talk online, from Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Bacolod, Bicol and Rizal.

Mommy Rubz also shared us the vision and mission of the PMC and PRmoms was officially launched that day.

Photos below were evidently the fun filled moment we shared during the event. Pardon for the quality of the photos. I was confined in my seat and couldn't make a perfect angle because the venue was crowded. During the conducted ocular visit, we assessed that the venue could accommodate enough for the 50 mommies and other guests. The room became so crowded not because of the attendees but because of the big blessings that poured in from our generous sponsors. Imagine the eight loot bags for each mommies plus other raffle items.

PMC would like to thank the following sponsors who graciously gave away products for each of the mommies who attended the event.

Major Sponsors

Each mom got a loot bag from Unilab, aside from the raffle prizes they sent us. Loot bags include Ibuprofen Dolan, 500 ml of Ascorbic Acid Ceelin, a tumbler, Multivitamins Enervon, Rashfree for diaper rash and Loperamide Diatabs.

Each mom received products from Smart Steps such as Smart Steps Baby Fabric Conditioner, Smart Steps Baby Bottle Cleanser, Smart Steps Baby Laundry Detergent, Holy Seat Disposable toilet seat cover and Holy Seat hand spray toilet seat sanitizer. Aside from that, they gave more items for raffle.

Minor Sponsors

Umami

Umami products that include Ajinomoto Umami Seasoning, Crispy Fry breading mix, SoQuick Marinade Mix, Aji-Sho seasoning mix (garlic and pepper), Fres-C concentrated drink mix, Tasty Boy all purpose breading mix, Ajinomoto Sinigang sa Sampalok, Ajinomoto Ginisa Flavor Mix and Pal Sweet Calorie Free Sweetener.

Scotch Brite

Included in Scotch-Brite loot bags are Kitchen Gloves, Scotch-Brite Easy Erasing Pad, Scotch-Brite Heavy Duty Bathroom Scrub Sponge, Scotch-Brite Heavy Duty Antibacterial Scrub Sponge and Scotch-Brite Light Duty Scrub Sponge.

Ariel Stain Lift and Pampers from Procter and Gamble

Procter and Gamble gave each mom a pack of Ariel Stain Lift with deep cleaning technology and Pampers Active Baby.

Krispy Kreme and Shirt from Geiser Mclang

As soon as I reached home after the event, I quickly took a photo of Krispy Kreme because I already called home while I was at the event and told them that I have a box of Krispy Kreme for them. Guess what? After a few minutes, donuts were all gone. I'm glad, I've done my photo op before they even started to eat them.

I was one of the lucky moms who won extra items that day. I won Ainon products such as shirts, and school tumbler. Ainon also gave away two strollers but we all agreed to just give them our chosen charity event this December.

Avon also gave away gift packs that include Skin so Soft lotion, Avon Advance Techniques straight and sleek hair product, Avon Ultra Color Rich white gold lipstick, Avon Super Curlacious Mascara. Drypers Drypers also gave gift packs such as Drypers Weewee Dry Diapers, Libresse products and 1000 PhP McDo GC. Other sponsors like Richwell gave away some toys such as Barbie and Hotwheels. Grendha also gave away raffled items for the events. Goldquest Biotechnologies sent a gift in form of cash but PMC used the said amount for other expenses.

I can't help but call for a taxi cab to bring me home with these stuffs. I earlier planned to take a railway train but with all the badges I got, it was impossible for me to get the train ride going home.

Imagine the happiness in the eyes of my tweens seeing these exchanged tokens from other moms. Oh these cute stuffs are too pretty to keep.

Other raffle items came from mommies like Walis Tambo all the way from Baguio and other kitchen products from Levy and items from World of Wellness.

The photo above was featured in the local newspaper, People's Tonight and People's Journal. Just can't help but blog about it. I am a proud member of PMC!

Of course, the event wouldn't be complete without the photo booth sponsored by Krazy Pix Photobooth. Please visit the website for any inquiries about photobooth for any occasions like weddings, birthdays, baptismal parties, reunions, anniversaries, product launchings and corporate events.

I have enough words and photos here but I haven't done yet with my post. I'll post another story or a part 2 of this event about the detailed story, the laughter, mommy talks and everything we shared during the event. Special thanks to the event committee and to admins, Mommy Pehpot and Mommy Rubz for making this event possible.

Token for a Friend

I've sent some tokens for my friend in Arkansas through a blogger friend from North Dakota who came over here for a vacation and also to attend the Pinay Mommies Community event. I know how much she misses the food here but as much as I want to send her all her favorites, I decided not to include food because shipping will take a month and it will surely get expired before it even reaches her place. I think that sending her some items for winter season like gloves or MSR Snowshoes would be better, but then knowing that there are a lot of stores in the US that offer low price and sale items of different brand, I just emailed her to just wait for the tokens that I've promised her before. By the time I am writing this post, I already received an instant message extending her gratitude in advance. :)

Eton International School - School Without Borders

Every parent wants a school that will give the best education for their children. A school without borders, Eton International School, provides a school where learning is more continuous, more relevant, and more adaptive. Classrooms are outfitted with the latest in interactive technology but school climate is homey--with diverse community members building congenial relationships.

I must admit, I really had a hard time analyzing how to teach my kids the easier way. I often find myself frustrated with my child's learning pace. I would always compare them how I learned during my grade school years. I want my children to learn the way I did but no matter how hard I tried and how many times I explained them and did a follow-up lessons after school, still, I feel disappointed with their grades. I am not a perfectionist nor expecting above average grade on their report cards but I don't know how to teach them the proper way. I sometimes lost my patience when teaching and I feel guilty afterwards.

The ETON curriculum deals with challenging and stimulating learning programs that apply these important elements such as critical thinking and problem solving, collaboration across networks and leading influence, agility and adaptability, initiative and entrepreneurialism, effective oral and written communication, accessing and analyzing information and curiosity and imagination. This multifaceted curriculum includes lessons and activities based on the Dunn and Dunn Learning Styles System to help every person to discover and reach his or her highest potential.

When I took the test at ETON to determine whether I am Global or Analytic, I found out that I am Global. I existed in this world for more than 40 years and I only knew it that day about similarities and differences between me and my children and the learning style to provide them for effective learning.

I am Global!

Each student has different learning strengths and preferences and the abilities to focus and learn. Students differ in processing style and preferred modalities. There are two general processing styles: the analytical and the global. Global learners absorb new knowledge faster in an environment with soft lighting and non-traditional seating while analytic learners are best in an environment with bright light and traditional seating positions. They want a quiet room, with no interruptions or disruptions.

Aside from the processing style, the ETON curriculum uses the Learning Styles for effective teaching strategies, through assessment of the students' preferred modalities of perception: visual, auditory, tactile and kinesthetic. ETON evaluates each student's dominant modality of perception in connection to sensory data to determine the most effective instructional plan for a particular student.

Eton International School goal is to create a school without borders that allows their children to explore, think overcome and network with children in different pars of the world. They broaden students' horizons by stimulating their minds, confronting their physical challenges, and developing their circle of core competence at a very young age. They strive to help them open doors of learning rather than learning barriers.

ETON International School Achievements:

International Topnotchers in English, Math and Science, having a score of 96 - 99% from 2004 to 2010
National Achievement Test Topnotchers in 2010
Accelerated students in US, Spain, Malaysia and the Philippines
