Prevention is better than Cure!

I couldn't believe that my last post about my swollen elbow was October last year. If it were another kind of illness, I would probably have been admitted in the hospital for complications for not giving attention to my elbow. My bad. I should have consulted the doctor at once and not risked about my health. I thought all the while that it was "bursitis," a non particular form of rheumatism. I thank God that the medicine works well except that sometimes I still feel the pain, but it's tolerable. I was also advised not to lift any heavy materials to avoid stressing my elbow. I was supposed to do the laundry this morning but I couldn't even stretch out my hand to reach the drum covers. I chose to rest my hands for a while and will just send off my dirty linens to the shop later. Easy right? I will just pick washed linen when done. Prevention is better than cure. I believe so. I was just a little late.

366 BPC: Baby Shower

Guess what? I won a Spinkie Pillow last Saturday during the baby shower party and had slices of Blossoms cake. It's not only the creative design that amazed me but the taste, it's so delicious. I'll blog about them later.

Mountable Ultrasound Machine

I was totally bothered with my sore elbow this morning and finally decided to visit the doctor. I rushed myself and proceeded to the nearest hospital as a walk-in patient. It's a prestigious hospital so even without referral, I hold on to my belief that the high paying clinic gives the best service. I was directed to the orthopedic surgeon and was examined right away with the mountable ultrasound machine inside the clinic. During the said test, the tendon appeared swollen, torn and there's a fluid collected around the joint. I was advised to take a medicine, 12-session therapy to rehabilitate my elbow and a muscle splint. I was glad I didn't have to go to another building for another test. See how technology works today! I wouldn't be surprised if I see other patient using video conferencing from ActConferencing.com for follow up. I was happy and felt relieved to discover the real cause of this pain that I've endured for quite a long time now.

I hate seeing doctor and who wouldn't? Aside from the fact that seeing a doctor is expensive, I hate being examined too. But I tell you, I am less stressed today. What I learned now is not to put off the visit tomorrow or later for it it would only risk finances. Possible surgery procedure could be the next treatment once the complication arises.

The Enchanted Kingdom Trip

It was another annual post holiday and my brother's pre-departure get-together at the Enchanted Kingdom. We had a blast that day but it would be more fun if we arrived early and complete. My two nephews did not make it. The next time we visit the park, we'll make sure that everybody is present.

We arrived very late, I say late like 6pm and we only got to experience four rides because of the long lines in every ride. First stop is carousel. Of course, it wouldn't be complete without Grand Carousel trip. I was not very lucky because I had two rides at the carousel. Half kidding. I'm the happiest to capture this moment.

Next stop is the Wheel of Fate

and Flying Fiesta.

and the Jungle Log Jam

It was thrilling that I could hear them screaming on top of their lungs. I regret after a while why I let them took this ride. If there's only way I could stop, I will. There's a guard house uphill reminding the passengers to stay seated and relax and hold on the boat. I saw the log went down so fast. Really fast and the water splashed right through their faces. I counted them all again if they're still in pair. Lol. Before taking the ride, I arranged their sitting position placing one adult and a child in front and reminded nth times to keep their head back and not to stand up. They were all thrilled going up because they knew that the next thing to happen will be rapid down the rail.

It was dark and that adds to the thrill. I tell you, I was really shaking because there were no seat belt to hold them. I was at the bridge looking at them waiting at the exit gate.

They're happy anyway. The splash of dirty and smelly water makes their ride more rewarding. :)

See the long lines and we weren't even reaching the starting point. It was almost time for the park to close. It's a zigzag line and I think we're on the hundredth in the line before this sign.

The RioGrande Rapids. Almost the same as the Jungle Log in terms of soaking wet. "Expect to get wet with this ride," I saw it posted in the entrance gate. They were already soaked and what would you expect after the Rio Grande Rapids then? They were not prepared to get wet but there's a Treasure Island that sells souvenir items right at the exit gate. You can find the complete outfit but we opted not to buy and just stay wet and rushed to go home to change. Unfortunately, the van came very late. lol

Happy faces after the soaking ride

They can't get over with the rides at the park and the most thrilling to them was the Jungle Log Jam. The next time we visit again, we'll make sure to be there early and experience everything in the themed park. We only had a total of four rides and missed a lot. It was the last holiday weekend but the park was still a big crowd.

After our EK Trip

Few weeks ago, we visited Enchanted Kingdom together with my siblings and kids, nephews and nieces. My sister's van that was supposed to take us to the themed park wasn't available so we hired another vehicle instead. We don't want to waste what we already planned for the day. We safely reached the destination and enjoyed the enchanted and fun rides. Surprisingly when we were about to go home, the service van that we hired for that trip was not around. We were not informed by the driver on how many hours should we wait. My sister tried to contact him but his mobile phone was turned off. We were a bit anxious but we were left with no option but to remain where we were seated because there was no available cab in the place.

After an hour of waiting, the driver came and deeply apologized and explained to us what he encountered on the road. I wish that he is a member of roadside assistance club so that when anything happens again while driving, or when he gets stranded, there will be a team ready to assist him anytime. It is not only the driver who wastes time and worries for nothing but passengers too. We all need to be prepared for unforeseen incidents all the time. Anyway, we arrived home safe that night, tired but happy. I'll tell more of the stories up next.

It was almost midnight and I was already drained and needed to recharge but the children looked opposite my way. They're full of energy and ready to take another rides again, if only the park extended its closing time.

Revisiting the Manila Ocean Park

During Christmas break, we visited the Manila Ocean Park again with my siblings and their kids. The line going to the counter took us forever and before we even reached the ticket area, the only available was oceanarium. The Holiday Promo tickets were already sold out. Even if we were not able to get the Penguin and Sea Lion Show, my children and their cousins still enjoyed a lot. It is always More fun in the Philippines, going out with family.

Not anymore afraid of sharks.
During our first visit about three years ago, these sharks were smaller than they're today and she's not anymore afraid of them.

A review.
These are my two girls now.

and they were before. :)

Still cute! :)

There are more added attractions in Manila Ocean Park and is even better today. Ocenarium, Fish Spa, Astronaut Voyage, Antarctica, Musical Fountain and a lot more. You may visit the website at http://www.manilaoceanpark.com/ for details. Holiday Promo Specials run from November 5, 2011 to January 15, 2012. Enjoy the remaining weekend of their promo! I am $25 richer!

A sweet reward from Nostalgia! Let me say THANK YOU first before I finally proceed to my post. Thank you to all my blogger friends who supported my entry, "Nostalgia: Christmas Tree. " It was December last year when Nostalgia meme ended. It was really sad on my part where I heartily joined every week, and of course on the host's but I believe that when the door closes, another window will open. With the votes that I gathered from friends, I felt more loved and your thoughtfulness means a lot to me. What a way to start my Paypal 2012. :) Thank you so much!

A visit to Fort Santiago

After too many plans that we weren't able to push through, we finally visited Fort Santiago on Rizal Day. It wasn't crowded as I thought it would be considering it was December 30, holiday and commemoration of death of Jose Rizal. For a very minimal entrance fee, P50 each for student with ID and 75 for regular pass, one will surely enjoy the historical place. Most of the tourists that I saw inside the park were foreigners.

We took the opportunity to take more photos while inside the park. So I thought that DSLRs and other cameras are not allowed. No. Tourists could freely take photos inside. There are just some areas where flashes of the cameras are required to turn off.

Fort Santiago is open daily from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Rizal Shrine is open on Monday from 1 to 5pm and on Tuesday - Sunday from 9:00am to 6:o0pm as posted at the entrance gate.

One day at Marikina Riverbanks

Marikina is just a few minutes away from Manila. My sisters have bazaar in Riverbanks Center so we decided to visit them and see the park as well.

When we reached the place, my older daughter changed all the display in the mannequin and tada... all the clothes she displayed were sold in a few minutes. My sisters told me that we bring in good luck inside the store. Now I know what to do next season.

This girl deserves a percentage for the items that she sold. LOL.

We took the chance to roam around the park while we were still there. The park has many views and amusement to offer. Boat ride, zip line, bike around the park, amusement rides are just some of the attractions at the Riverbanks. I saw families having their picnics sitting in the grass only with the picnic mat.

At Marikina Riverbank Park

Right beside the riverbank, there's also a tent bazaar.

Food Trip at Marikina Riverbanks

Shawarma for only P45.00

For the three of us, me and my two daughters, I only paid less than P50 for the ice cream.

Fireworks, Firecrackers and Asthma

We were confined inside our house on the eve of New Year. I tightly closed our glass window and changed a thicker curtain just to make sure that no pollution would enter the house. I tuned on the radio to the loudest to welcome 2012. Few hours after welcoming new year, I watched the local news where hundreds of people were hospitalized due to injury they obtained from using the firecrackers. Physician Jobs may be the busiest in the first hour of New Year. When would these people stop celebrating New Year this way? I hope that the government will push through the total ban for firecrackers next year. Firecrackers victims even increased despite the strong campaign. My daughter has an asthma and even if she has no allergy, this traditional way of welcoming new year is a no no for me.

I can't see any good reason about using fireworks and firecrackers. They only contribute to pollution and bad effects to our health and also to our environment. The city in the morning was polluted and flights were even diverted because of poor visibility caused by smog. The smog is very dangerous to our health. I wanted to join a group to totally ban fireworks and firecrackers. I hope that the government put a steel hand to implement this law so that no injury or casualty will be reported next year.
