A month ago, CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) published a piece of news about purchasing eyeglasses online; a month later, this news has already been commented on by thousands of people. With the rise of purchasing eyeglasses online, more and more eyeglass wearers have begun to focus their attention on it. However, with regard to buying eyewear online, some support it while others still have doubts about it. What has turned numerous eyeglass wearers from traditional brick-and-mortar eyeglass stores to online ones? Firmoo's slogan tells you everything: Vision and Fashion the Frugal Way.
Most eyeglasses wearers have purchased eyeglasses at traditional eyeglass stores. Nevertheless, due to the limited styles and unaffordable prices, consumers have had to regard eyeglasses as a medical tool used to correct vision instead of a fashion accessory. But now, with the emergence of online eyeglass shopping, we can get fashionable eyeglasses at reasonable prices. Among the many online eyeglass stores, Firmoo, which combines fashion and economy, is undoubtedly the most outstanding one.
As we all know, we usually have to spend hundreds of dollars on a pair of glasses at brick-and-mortar eyeglass stores. Yet, you can get the same pair of glasses from online eyeglass stores at a fraction of the price. For this reason, buying glasses online is, so to speak, quite an economical way to get eyeglasses. Among the numerous online optical stores, Firmoo is the most economic one. Customers can usually get their beloved glasses at a price that is up to 90% lower than that in brick-and-mortar eyeglass stores. Furthermore, new customers can even get their first pair for FREE there. Some people may doubt the quality, safety, durability, etc. of eyeglasses purchased online, but there is no need to worry when purchasing from Firmoo. Firstly, all glasses provided by Firmoo are carefully manufactured by skilled workers and are strictly inspected by professional opticians before shipment, thus ensuring the quality and safety of glasses; secondly, Firmoo has developed a try-on tool for customers to try their beloved eyeglasses on so as to see how they look on them; thirdly, Firmoo has a customer service team that has always been committed to offering their valued customers the best service; lastly, all glasses available at Firmoo are provided by their affiliated factory, which is why they can offer eyeglasses at such a low price.
"We have dozens of affiliated eyeglasses factories which enable us to provide our customers with the most affordable eyeglasses around because there are no middlemen in between. Meanwhile, we have devoted ourselves to providing our valued customers with fashionable and aesthetic eyeglasses," said Patrick Li, Firmoo's CEO.
Compared with purchasing eyeglasses at brick-and-mortar eyeglass stores, purchasing eyeglasses online is not only more economical but also enables customers to select from more fashion elements. This is due to Firmoo meticulously picking several hundred classic styles from thousands of eyeglass models.
Firmoo CEO Patrick Li also added, "Our team has selected hundreds of classical and fashionable styles in order to save time for our customers when they are picking eyeglasses."
So what do online eyeglass stores bring to us? We believe the answer is fashion and frugality.

Grandma into the Digital Age
We visited our province last week and stayed there for three days. We spent the little time we had to visit other relatives and my children had a bonding time with their cousins. My grandmother, already in her late 90s, still recognized me and did not show any signs of Alzheimer's at her age but she's a little bit weak to stand alone and I think that she needs a medical step stool to roam around the house. After visiting my grandma, I headed back home and realized how lucky my grandma is as she reaches digital age and experiences to live a life that's made easy with technology.
Liliw Getaway
I love unplanned trips because they are the ones that usually push through. Our Liliw Getway was not planned nor was advised earlier. We've been planning to go somewhere else but not to Liliw, and this getaway happened so fast. The adventure that I would have missed a big time, have I said no, was amazing. When Joy called me up about the trip, I had no idea about the place except for a little info I got from the internet. I haven't been or seen a real spring all my life and this was a chance I don't think would happen again, maybe yes, but not soon.
Around ten in the morning, we were already at Mendiola residence as our meet up point. Because I was not really sure of the travel time, I prepared a heavy breakfast for my two daughters just in case we caught ourselves on the road for a few hours.
The road to Liliw is very relaxing with mountainous view on both sides but I don't recommend traveling there by night. You could find the houses kilometers away in between and there were no lamp posts along the road. I could imagine how scary it is traveling by night time. I have no exact idea on how many hours it would take us to reach Liliw as I forgot to google the road map, until I saw few road signs on how many kilometers away and towns to pass by.
As we got into the place, the kids couldn't wait to explore the resort. I knew that we're already far from the city because my daughter couldn't get a signal from any network.
Staying in a nipa hut makes me feel nostalgic. There's no Wifi and no TV set but to be away from gadget is something that I really wanted to happen for my children to experience how life is it to be away from the internet. The only place and time where they could feel the nature with no interruptions even for a while.
The nipa hut where we stayed during the short trip has three rooms but not comfortable enough for children to stay overnight, for barkadas or group who want adventure, yes.
We were already starving when we reached the place and that made the Adobo turned to be the best dish to our taste bud. We forgot to bring utensils but our survival instinct just worked out right and use disposable cups as a serving spoon and ate by hands. What's more exciting than that?
The happy meal for happy eaters. Eating with the sound of water and cool ambiance was so relaxing and became more fun eating with no utensils.
The kids couldn't wait to dip into a cold water. The water was chillin cold but you would only feel it in your first dip. Once you're into the deep, you wouldn't feel cold anymore but you'll be relaxed otherwise.
Summer is cool if you spend it in a natural spring. Other people are rushing to beach and do some activity under the sun. Don't they know that a spring or stream is exactly the place meant for summer?
It was my first time to see a real stream and my kids too. We have a little stream in our province but the deepest is just below the ankle and I don't really know what to call that, a spring with only a pail of water and sometimes even dried up. I envy the lucky folks who live here as they experience the real beauty of nature.
The experience of seeing the natural water that flows is amazing. We took the chance of having more photo ops and took all the pictures we could get. I know we wouldn't have any chance again to visit the place or if we have, it might be another decade with high hopes that a spring still provides an abundance of water.
What more could I asked for. Four hours travel is more than worth for this trip. The memories we had here will last a lifetime, a real treasure to hold til there is a spring that runs down the river.
Moms enjoyed the water too. The red and yellow outfit made them stood out from greenery surrounding.
I wonder how high the water could get when the flood or storm comes and how many rocks were displaced when big current comes.
I said goodbye to Liliw Resort but the adventure we had was more than words to say, simply amazing! A big thanks to Mendiola family for bringing us to this trip. It was another first, a great experience to remember.
After few hours of stay, we concluded not to stay overnight and decided to move to another resort instead. We headed to Splash Mountain and continue with our short trip.
Another photo op before leaving Liliw as we rushed to go back to the city before the sun finally set down.

The water that runs through the river turned crystal-like as it splashed into the big rocks. Although, a bit slippery, walking slowly is manageable. Just don't be clumsy. You couldn't dive either because there are big rocks all along the river.

The Road to Dream
I just finished watching a music video on YouTube and was totally impressed with how the band performed using a certain kind of instrument. The only dream they wish to happen is to perform live in an international TV show and they made the video as the first move to get noticed. Spreading the news through clicking "like and share" for their creative video could be the next step to make their dream come true and it could possibly be with support from the fans. They are still looking for more likes and they are asking to please share in all your social networking sites. Remember how all the YouTube sensational made their names today? It all started by posting their own video and they are now certified international recording artists.
Would they also make it? Let's wait and see. Nothing is impossible online. I will blog about them as soon as they got an invite to perform in a show.

Greyson Chance Performing Live
While I was busy blogging a while ago, my daughter interrupted me and asked to watch MTV.
Greyson Chance was performing live in Venice Piazza. I finished watching Greyson performed his latest hits entitled "Take a Look at Me Now" using the piano. What a skilled artist, I thought, as I was impressed how he did the number. The teens were screaming on top of their lungs and everybody wanted to have an autograph and a picture with him. The next scene was like a flash. He left the concert while more fans were screaming for more. Maybe the security became tight because "I heard" that he was harassed by a certain fan earlier in the concert.

Relocation Site

On our way to Splash Mountain, we noticed the row houses at the foot of the mountain. I wonder if this is the relocation area that I've seen in the news. The community requested the government to move them in a place where they can live a normal life and survive. Now I understand the sentiments of being relocated in a remote rural area.

Tips for Job Seekers
Here are some tips I would like to share for summer job seekers. First, have your resume ready with all the details and information outlined neatly. It doesn't need to be too lengthy. You may check the website on how to create a better curriculum vitae. If you just graduated from college and have no experience yet, go to a company that offers a minimum requirement in which you think you will be qualified. Not all the institution hire the experienced employee though. Others are willing to train the new ones. Be ready with the reference and make sure that you pass the background check as your passport in getting to the next step.
The rate of unemployment gets higher so it is better be tough and get the edge on how to get hired. You need to be at your best. You don't need to impress the employer. Just be yourself and be honest with your response. You also need to do a little research about the company you are applying for. You may also practice some potential answer to some spontaneous job interview questions too. Goodluck.

The pounding water

Up next my Liliw getaway post..
Nature's Trip
We've been out for two days for an out of town trip. We visited two resorts in different towns in one trip and the first trip was totally amazing wherein we were connected and had time to commune with mother nature. It was actually my first time and my kids' too, to see a stream where water flows drastically like a wild river as it falls down from the mountain. The sound of water is oh so calming. The house was very nostalgic, although the design and the interior were almost like that of a mansion with cedar furniture, I felt I was totally far from the city that we live in with the ambiance of natural scenery that surrounds us. I hope I could go back there soon. It was totally refreshing where vacation means relaxing even with no internet, cable, wifi and air conditioned room.

Subic Summer Getaway
We seldom spend our vacation in Subic and always choose Batangas for summer getaway as it's already a home for us and is quite nearer from Manila. Last Saturday, we cancelled our Laiya reservation and headed north instead. We have no reservation in Subic so we left Manila early morning because we're not sure if we could get a cottage to stay for about 17 pax. The SLEX was clear that day. There were no signs of traffic and it took us only about three hours on the road. The traffic only started to build up in the Subic area. Buses and other vehicles were lined up going to resorts. In our first stop for an available resort, the caretaker offered us the two vacant rooms and a cottage. We were told to come back right away because they couldn't guarantee to reserve the place for us as he reasoned out that a lot of tourists are expected to stay that day. After talking to our group, parked just a few meters away, we went to the resort owner to confirm our overnight bookings, unfortunately, the rooms were already taken by another group in a span of five minutes. We felt frustrated for a while. Luckily, on the next stop, there were quite a number of tourists to check-out in two hours so we just waited till the rooms/cottages become available. We were offered a nipa hut good enough for us and a papagan.
There were already quite a lot of vacationer nearby. We're lucky to have landed in a semi private resort where only a few came to spend their summer.
We hopped to another island. The locals call it "Pulo Island". It's a rocky island, a perfect place for location shooting. You don't need to look for a great scene or angle because the island was very picturesque. The water was very calm and quiet but I saw it in different way. I was terrified and kept asking the boatmen, "malayo pa po ba, normal lang po ba ang alon na yan." It took us more than 15 minutes before we reached the island. I noticed that the life vests were already worn out and that added to my worried and stressed mind. The waves were coming against our way that caused our boat to sway from time to time. What made me more nervous is when I heard the boatman said, "Naku, sabay sabay pa umalis, walang aalalay sa atin." I guessed the boatman was referring to all the 5 boats that left the island at the same time. You can call me crazy or maybe not behaving normal but there's always a fear inside me every time I ride a boat. I was really terrified and prayed hard, "God please sail the boat for us and guide us in our trip." When we landed back to resort, I looked at the calm sea and the sun was about to set. How could I be such in a bad panic state when the water was very calm and quiet. Crazy.
and the White Castle Island. It was really nice from afar but when you get closer, you would notice the damages caused by the storms and high tides that already had passed and ruined the castle.

My daughter couldn't resist the early morning water. It was so calm and quiet and clean. You could see the fishes swimming in a shallow water.
Yes, definitely, we'll be going back to northern part of Luzon to explore more. I love my place and that's where my home is, Batangas, but I already had enough with the South.

Wedding Concern
Most couple choose the month of June for their wedding. They think that this month will bring them happiness and prosperity and they consider it as the best time of the year to settle with their loved ones. Mostly, if not all, the bride-to-be is the busiest and most involved about the preparation for the event. Other people chose to hire a wedding planner to make all the plans work smoothly so as not to miss out even the smallest details on the most important day of their lives. The flower arrangement, wedding gown and choosing the list of mens wedding rings are usually on top of the plan as they play a very important symbol of a lasting relationship.
Saying "I do" is a promise of a lifetime. It is the start of new life but the post event for the newlyweds sometimes becomes the start of money discussion. Before the wedding, the issue about finances must be settled first because most couple encounter problem regarding this matter after the wedding. Let's face it, many marriages ended up divorce after few months and most of the reason, other than personal differences, is finances.

KIPLING's 25th Anniversary Celebration
Many people have fallen in love with Kipling and I can simply answer now why Kipling bags are well loved all over the world, it's because their bags are very stylish and gorgeous. I became an instant fan of Kipling when I attended their 25th anniversary celebration that showcased Kipling's biggest bag collection held at the SM Mall of Asia Atrium last March 30, 2012. Kipling is touted as the best women's casual brand in the world.
At the start of the event, a dance number with Tote bags was presented by a group of young people. Oh these bags are very colorful and functional too, you can either use this as a Tote Bag or a Hip Hop Backpack.
Kipling presented its Spring/Summer 2012 collection, which included bags from the Basic, Basic Travel, Sweet Me, My Valentine, Vintage, Gorilla Girlz, City, City Business, 25 Years, Back to School, and Working Life line. Each collection is perfectly designed to adapt to the lifestyles of today’s discerning women travelers who want no less than quality, functionality and style in their travel pieces.
A highlight of the event was a fashion show that underscored the new collection's brilliantly-colored Kipling Bags.

Regarded as one of Belgium’s most iconic fashion pieces, Kipling was inspired by a number of renowned factors that give it its distinct edge. "With a monkey discovered in Asia, an innovative nylon treatment from Europe, a bold attitude inspired by America and the name of an indisputable British legend, Kipling is without a doubt one of Belgium's most successful fashion exports," says Isabel Van den Broeck, marketing and communication director worldwide for Kipling.
"From new stores in Asia to the beaches of Brazil, we continue to create lifestyle essentials to brighten women's every moment, from working days to bright nights and special gatherings to chance encounters. Design at Kipling has stayed hectic and eclectic - and we wouldn't have it any other way," adds Van den Broeck.
Kipling is available online at zalora.com.ph and at SM Mall of Asia, SM North EDSA The Block, SM Megamall, SM Bacolod, SM Iloilo, SM Davao, SM Cebu, Robinsons Place Ermita, Rustan’s Alabang Town Center, Rustan’s Shangri-La, Rustan’s Gateway, Rustan’s Makati, Landmark Makati and TriNoma.
